The Master of Science in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity offers students with technical backgrounds the opportunity to pursue advanced studies in information assurance and cybersecurity. The program is designed for students with bachelor’s degrees in computer science, computer engineering or a related discipline, as well as professionals seeking to improve their skills.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must have completed at least three semester credit hours of differential and integral calculus and at least three semester credit hours of discrete mathematics. In addition, applicants should have completed at least nine semester credit hours of programming coursework including three semester credit hours of data structures. The program chair may grant admission to students with the stipulation that deficiencies are satisfied by successful completion of certain courses.
Degree Requirements
The program requires a minimum of 33 credit hours of required and approved elective courses including 18 hours of required information assurance and cybersecurity courses, and 15 credit hours of advanced elective courses. Advanced elective courses include information assurance and cybersecurity (CYB) and computer science (CSE) courses numbered 5600 or above, and approved SWE courses. The selection of advanced elective courses requires program chair approval. Thesis may be substituted for six elective credit hours. Students not taking a thesis must pass the final program examination.
