Industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology is the scientific study of the workplace. Rigorous research methods are applied to issues of critical relevance to business and organizations. The master’s program is a two-year degree that prepares professionals to work in management consulting or within the broad human resource function in organizations. In addition, the program serves as a preparatory sequence for those graduate students who wish to continue their education in a doctoral program.

The industrial/organizational master of science degree program at Florida Tech follows the scientist-practitioner model of graduate training, emphasizing the development of research skills, knowledge of I/O theory and techniques, and applied experiences. Student take a series of required classes in the foundations of psychology and research methods, core content in I/O psychology, and can elect to complete either a practicum or master’s thesis.

The I/O program is affiliated with the Florida Tech Center for Organizational Effectiveness and Institute for Cross-Cultural Management, which provide opportunities for students to extend their research and applied skills beyond the classroom.
